Former New York Knicks center Enes Kanter was waived by the team on Feb. 7 after failing to move him at the 2019 NBA Trade deadline. Days later, on Feb. 13, the Portland Trail Blazers signed the veteran and gave him a job as Jusuf Nurkic’s backup center, rather than rotting on New York’s bench.
Kanter, a vocal player who isn’t afraid to express himself on social media, threw shade at New York in a tweet after his debut with the Trail Blazers.
Kanter scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Portland’s 113-99 win over Brooklyn at the Barclays Center on Thursday, Feb. 21. It was Kanter’s first win in weeks; prior to landing with Portland, New York had lost 15 straight games and won just two games in 2019 (2-19). Based on his tweet, you can tell he’s now happy playing for a winning team.

Kanter played on a tanking team who has plans to go after Duke phenom Zion Williamson at the 2019 NBA Draft to a Trail Blazers team who is contending in the Western Conference. Portland sits 35-23 on the season, good for 4th place.
“Last time I got a win I think it was like almost two months [ago],” Kanter told reporters after his Blazers debut.
